Our first library day of the summer was today. Although we won't start our summer reading program for another week or two, the kids were anxious to get new books since their school library days ended a week or two ago. My kids love to read.
Sister Sassy Pants had her first successful trip to the library. Not her first trip mind you, but the first one where she actually browsed and chose her own books and did not have to be hauled out under protest due to her inability to use her "inside voice".
Love. This. Picture. Heart swells....

After the library we stopped off at Roth's for some dinner items, and little SSP remembered that they have grocery carts just her size. Talk about hell on wheels, I have never seen this girl walk so fast. At one point she ran into another cart because of her zest for cart pushing. The kindly gentleman said he was certain it was due to being blinded by her hat.
Not only does she unload her own groceries.....
but she will ring them up for you if you just get out of her way.

After what started out as a blustery day, the afternoon and evening turned out quite lovely and we spent the better part of it outside playing and working. Even when it came time for jammies and reading, no one could bear to go in so we had story time on the lawn.
They finally came in when Dad came home. He was immediately suckered into a trip to Dora's pumpkin patch.
Jake has gotten wrapped up in the Bunnicula books and is currently on Howliday Inn.
The kids' elementary school is doing a 20 year time capsule and every one got to fill out a questionnaire to be placed in it. I would suggest that questionnaires are not really one-size-fits-all when you are talking about an age span of 5 through 11. When asked what he thinks he will be doing in 20 years, Austin's response was, "Teaching my child to climb a ladder". Hmmm... As for his advice to his 2032 future self? "Play xBox". Lovely.
