My Kids

Beautiful pictures of my babies, courtesy of my sister.  Someone please explain to me how these amazing little people belong to me, because it amazes me every day.  And while you're at it, tell them to stop growing up so fast!

Halloween 2013

I'm a little late, I know.  They're still pretty stinkin' cute...

Leah got her wings pretty early one, but dithered back and forth between being a butterfly or a fairy.  In the end she decided she was Tecna from The Winx Club cartoon she's been watching lately.

Austin as Wolverine.  I love that this kid is always at the ready to have his picture taken.
This kid, not loving pictures so much.  He refused to pose for even one, so him just standing there is what we've got.  Jake as Snake Eyes from GI Joe.
Jake still not posing, Austin forever in character, and apparently Leah has a belly itch.
Someone was pretty excited to be wearing makeup for the first time.  Check out those eyelashes!
 All the Salem cousins
Jocelyn, Isaiah, Austin, Skaidy, Hannah, Leah, Sydney, Tyler, Jake.

She's Riding!

The look on her face pretty much sums it up... this girl is a bike rider and couldn't be happier about it.

She went from a trike to her big girl bike, no training wheel sin between.  Like her brothers, it was pretty much one day she decided she wanted to be able to ride, so she did.

Summer Roundup

The kids were treated to a trip to the zoo from their Aunt Kiki, as a combo birthday excursion for the boys.  Leah of course led the way with her trusty map.
We all agreed that we had never been to the zoo before on such a perfect day for animal viewing - literally every animal was not only out, but up close and personal.  It was fabulous!

Baby Lily - back in December I was on the Portland local news wagering a guess on what her name would be.  I was wrong...

This one is for Jen - the kids were very excited to know that giraffes were (at one point anyway) your favorite animal.  :)
Towards the end of the summer, we also had Brian's annual summer work party, which is always a blast.  This year, as a manager, Brian had to be part of the "Dunk the Boss"  competition.
Jake just had to get in on the action as well...

Back to School 2013

Another school year has arrived.  My kids are so big and handsome, and goofy...

2nd grade
5th grade (seriously, middle school next year???)

Sister Sassy Pants had to get in on the action.  She was extremely put out that she does not get to start school for another year.

New for our school year this year, Kyle and Joslyn, who along with their older brother Bryan, spend mornings and afternoons with us.

Coast Trip

Let this picture go down in the annals of Barnhart Family History as yet another one where no one can look at the camera at the same time.  I've quite honestly given up hope.
We started the day off at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.  Foolish me, I thought for sure that on a non-holiday Monday, it wouldn't be terribly crowded.  Not.  I think every tourist of Asian, Russian and Norwegian descent was there, all at the same time.  I managed to snap off one shot, which turned out completely blurry, and I didn't feel like I could retake it because of the line of people waiting to pose their kids on the cow....  So this is what we have of the Cheese Factory:
In case you were wondering what their hours are, here's my PSA.  You're welcome.

Our next stop, Cape Mears lighthouse.  We checked out the Octopus Tree, which was pretty cool, and then Jake and I got to tour the inside of the actual lighthouse.

We went to the Aircraft Museum, with the intent of taking a tour.  Then I saw that it would cost $55 just to get in the door, so we said no thank you.  That's a a lot of money, just to look at stuff.  I did take some cool pictures from the road though.

We headed into Lincoln City about 3:00, and these 3 were already tuckered out...
